Behind Her Eyes Book Review
I listened to this on audio. I was counting hundreds of books for a program here, at the beginning of a horrible cold that knocked me out for two weeks and listened to this book all the way through in one day.
Louise, is a single mother kind of going through the motions of life. Her ex husband has a new family and her new job is alright, but its a job. One night, at a bar she meets David, and they click. Its got her on a high until she goes into work and realizes the man from the bar is her boss, and he's married.
Then, Louise runs into Adele, she is new in town and in need of a friend and very sweet... and also David's wife. Louise decides to be friends with Adele regardless and they become very close.
The more she is with them the more she learns about their marriage and lives and just how far some people will go to keep the people they love safe.
This book was given to me first by my sales rep and he told us that there was a hashtag along with this book #wtfthatending I didn't read it right away. The stubbornness in me was honestly like "you aren't going to make it that shocking. Nothing is really a surprise anymore." and the bookseller in me was saying "every time there is hype about the ending, its exaggerated." But, while counting books I started the audio and was hooked. It does take place somewhere in England, I don't remember them mentioning a place but the accent and slang they used gave it away. I don't know how it would be to read it and not hear that accent right away.
I really enjoyed this book, all the way through, and I do have to say, I was wrong at first, the ending I really didn't see coming. There are parts right before the end that you'll catch yourself saying "ohhhhh I see what they are doing." and then it changes. And then it changes again!
I was connected to the characters through the whole book. I felt for both of them and didn't really feel like there was a bad person in the bunch. Just bad decisions. That was through the book, after I finished.... thats a different story.
